The terms “spinal manipulation” and “manual manipulation” from a Chiropractor refers to having a short lever arm thrust being applied to a vertebra that is in an abnormal position. This can help restore range of motion in the neck and the back while improving overall functionality by reducing nerve irritability. It may take numerous appointments to have the bones and muscles hold their correct position. The amount of treatments depends on how misaligned a person is and how long they have been out of alignment. For instance, if someone has been out of alignment for a while, their surrounding muscle tissue may have overcompensated. Most patients report feeling better after their visit.
Mobilization
Chiropractic mobilization refers to manipulation of an extremely low velocity. The movement and stretching of the muscles and joints is completed with the goal of increasing the range of motion in locations that are sore and stiff.
