Dr. Josie Ball was born and raised in the small town of Poulsbo, WA. She attended Olympic college in Bremerton, Washington before transferring to the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon. Here she earned a Bachelors in Human Biology while concurrently completing her Masters in Sports and Exercise Science and Doctorate in Chiropractic. Post-graduate she has earned certifications in Active Release Technique and is also a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician ®.
After graduation Dr. Ball moved back to her home town and worked at a sports rehab clinic for 3 years. There, she specialized in sports related injuries and was on the Sports Medicine Advisory Board for the North Kitsap School District, worked with multiple local youth sports programs, as well as a nationally ranked local semi-professional soccer program. Her work in sports related avenues has given her the skills necessary to effectively treat a multitude of conditions (athletically related and not). During her time working in a large group practice in Bremerton, Dr. Ball affirmed her appreciation for a team style approach to medicine which she continues to utilize today.
Dr.Ball is an outdoor enthusiast which is one of the many driving factors to her moving to Alaska. She has always loved the active lifestyle and beautiful scenery Alaska provides. Dr. Ball loves hiking, backpacking, stand-up paddle-boarding, horseback riding and working out. Fitness is an essential part of her life and one she hopes to share with her patients.
Dr. Ball believes movement is medicine and she is committed to providing all of her patients with the tools necessary to achieve proper pain free movement. By utilizing movement analysis, exercise instruction as well as the latest chiropractic and soft tissue techniques she is able to treat even the most difficult cases. She also has a passion for nutrition and believes that food is not only sustenance but also medicine and essential for a holistic approach to medicine. This holistic approach of combining chiropractic manipulation, myofascial release of soft tissue structures, nutritional analysis and exercise instruction has been Dr. Ball’s focus when treating all of her patients.
She is very excited to be joining the Arctic Chiropractic family and looks forward to helping the people of Juneau live happier, healthier more comfortable lives!
