Dr. James Chavis
Dr. James Chavis is originally from Miami, Florida. His family relocated frequently before finally settling down in Fairbanks, Alaska. This is one of his favorite cities. After attending the University of Alaska in Fairbanks, he was enrolled in full time resident instruction in pre-chiropractic studies including: biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, physiology, humanities, psychology, social sciences and kinesiology during his undergraduate studies.
In 2012, Dr. Chavis graduated from the University Of Western States in Portland, Oregon. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Human Biology along with a Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine. Dr. Chavis returned to Alaska upon graduation; this time settling down in Juneau.
Having never visited Juneau prior to moving there, Dr. Chavis and his wife were mesmerized by its beauty. They fell in love with the pristine mountains, the charming town, the friendly folks and the Gastineau channel. The Chavis’ consider themselves to be extremely fortunate to do what they love here in Alaska. Within a few months of moving to Juneau, they were ecstatic to welcome their first child, a baby boy.
Dr. Chavis believes is providing treatment to patients of all ages. He is extremely passionate about helping people achieve wellness in all faucets of their lives. He feels that wellness is the end result of committing to choose healthy options in order to maintain a fulfilling and healthy life. Dr. Chavis has seen the correlation between the patients who best respond to Chiropractic care seem to be the ones who are dedicated to taking control of their overall health.
Dr. Chavis enjoys learning about each and every patient. He takes their lifestyles into account, along with their medical history and their habits. He uses this information to develop a customized treatment plan to help them heal their symptoms and manage their pain. The goal is that patients can maintain a pain-free life.
He relies on a variety of techniques including: Myofascial release, spinal adjustments, spinal decompression, adhesion breaking, extremity adjustments, and self-care exercises among other things. Dr. Chavis enjoys helping patients recover from chronic headaches, numbness, neck pain, car accidents, back pain, work-related injuries, old sports injuries and more.
When he has a break from treating patients, Dr. Chavis enjoys playing outside with his newborn son Jack, exercising at the gym, and hiking.
